The Candy Box - The Innings and Outings Of Baseball Hall Of Famer, Edward Hugh Hanlon - “Foxy Ned” is written by Hanlon's great-grandson, and is the story of the unlikely discovery on Antiques Roadshow of treasured baseball items previously thought to be destroyed in a massive fire in July of 1944. The book follows the trajectory of baseball Hall of Famer, Ned Hanlon and his family’s origins from the potato fields of Ireland to the baseball fields of America. Spanning over 100 years of history, it details the innings and outings of “Foxy Ned” from rookie player for the Detroit Wolverines to his “piratical” behavior playing for Pittsburgh, on his way to winning five world championships as manager of the famed Baltimore Orioles and superb Brooklyn Dodgers. The Candy Box is the engaging tale of how these priceless historic baseball items became the highlight of the Antiques Roadshow episode filmed in Orlando, Florida.
